Shanirwada, is a palace fort in the city of Pune in Maharashtra, India.

Shaniwar Wada is situated in Shaniwar Peth, near the railway station of Pune.  The palace was constructed by Bajiroa 1st in the 1730. It was a 13 storey building.  Several additions were made to the palace like fortification walls with bastions, gates and court halls by his successors.The entire complex of the Shaniwar Wada comprises of fountains,  courtyards, blooming gardens, offices, audience halls and residential quarters. Looking at the construction one understands how the structure was built giving highest priority  to the security. The main entrance is known as 'Delhi Darwaja', others have named like Ganesh,  Mastani, Jambhal, Khidki.


A fire engulfed the fort in 1827 and lasted for approximately fifteen days. The devastating fire  led to the destruction of the beauty of the palace, along with all of its artifacts. However, Shaniwarwada Fort still counts amongst the major attractions of the Puna city of India.

The palace is open on all days from 08:00 hrs to 18:30 hrs.

Shaniwar Wada Light and Sound Show presented by Pune Municipal Corporation is an added  attraction at Shaniwar Wada.


There are two shows: the Marathi show is from 19:15 hrs to 20:10 hrs and the English Show is  from 20:15 hrs to 21:10 hrs. There are no shows on Tuesday. Ticket rate is Rs 25.
